The Modern Age of Independent Underground Horror (2016)

If you have been a fan of independent underground horror films for any amount of time then you know the notable names such as Fred Vogel (August Underground Trilogy), Andrey Iskanov (Philosophy of a Knife), Brian Paulin (Bone Sickness), Marian Dora (Cannibal), Ron DeCaro (The Brightside Trilogy), Lucifer Valentine (Vomit Gore Trilogy), and Eric Stanze (Scrapbook) who are spoken of as pioneers and respected by fans the world over.

A new age is brewing beneath the underground (see what we did there?), ushering in Directors who are standing side by side with the previously mentioned Directors and taking the modern age of indie underground horror by the throat, and to levels never seen or imagined before. Passing by are the days when it was enough for a Director with a Sony Handycam, an idea, some spare cash, and enough friends to be able to piece together a film. These new school Directors mean business, and business that starts and ends with talent that far exceeds their minimal budgetary constraints.

With that said, here is a list of who we at Beneath The Underground feel are the next level pioneers. Directors who are not only creating independent underground movies, but doing so with top notch EFX, scripting, editing, lighting, sound, and stories all on a minimal budget. These filmmakers are respecting the past while carrying independent underground into the future.

If you have not been introduced to new breed of indie underground Directors, here they are…

There are many MANY more names, both past and present who are churning out films that display a level of intellect outside of the box, and those who are right now putting pen to paper with what could be the next infamous underground horror classic. Who will the next rising names in Independent Underground Horror be? Stay tuned, keep your eyes on the indie community, and support these artists so they can inspire the next generation.
